ICT as an Informative Tool (reflection to be assessed )
While exploring the lesson on ICT as an informative tool. It was such an opportunity to know how Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can extend beyond basic of teaching aids and act as powerful tools for various teaching and learning processes such as accessing, organizing, and sharing information in the classroom. As an aspiring teacher trainee, I understood that it is critical to develop my skills in using these tools to create engaging and interactive learning environments for my future students.
The key ideas that I understood from the lesson was the contribution of ICT in helping tutors and student access large amount of information in short period of time. For instance, learning platform like YouTube, Google, and educational website can provide students with video lesson, articles, and step by steps tutorial that enhances various learning styles according to the need of the students. So, in future I will try to integrate these resources into my teaching so that every students learning needs can be catered.
I also learned about the tools like Microsoft PowerPoint and Prezi, which are often seen as simple presentation tools but actually serves as rich informative tool when used properly. One good example could be by embedding videos, infographics, and hyperlinks within the slides. Through these, not only me but every other individual can make lessons interactive and resourceful to a next level. Well, I practiced designing a PowerPoint presentation on life cycle of a plant. I made use of diagrams, pictures, links to external videos, and added voice narration to supplement and support the students which caters to their different learning needs.
I could also understand the credibility and appropriateness of information that are posted online. This is what I didn't consider deeply before. I now know that all information on internet are not true. It is one's responsibility to choose the right information from right mainstream, and make the right use of it. This led me to analyze the information sources critically and teach my future students to do so.
In general, the helped me appreciate ICT not only as a tools to deliver lessons, but as a tools that connects learners to the broader range of knowledge. I feel more contented for getting a chance to take part in this lesson and will make sure that the insight I gained from the lesson is put into practice and make learning more meaningful and engaging where no child is left behind. assess
Thank you!
